How can I become a researcher at LABO XIX&XX?
LABO XIX&XX is part of the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp's research infrastructure. If you're interested in pursuing artistic research with us, we encourage you to explore the research portal page of the conservatoire at the School of Arts website.

I'm interested in pursuing a PhD in artistic research. Where do I start?
A PhD in the arts at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp offers the opportunity to develop substantial artistic research over several years. LABO XIX&XX can serve as your research environment if your project aligns with our focus on musical heritage, cultural transfers, or experimental approaches to historical repertoire.

Are there other research groups at the Royal Conservatoire?
Yes! The Royal Conservatoire Antwerp hosts several research groups, each with distinct focus areas:
CORPoREAL investigates the embodied presence of the artist in the performing arts, exploring how the body functions as medium and knowledge carrier in artistic practice.
https://www.corporeal.be/CREATION focuses on artistic research in technological co-creation and transdisciplinary perspectives in contemporary performing arts.
UP – Performance in Perspective examines both the perspective of, and perspectives on, the performing artist (performer) within the broad domain of the performing arts: music, drama, dance, performance art, and related (inter/trans-) disciplines.
While each group has its own expertise, we often collaborate and share methodological insights. If you're unsure which research group best fits your interests, don't hesitate to reach out to any one of them. We're all happy to guide you in the right direction.

Absolutely. LABO XIX&XX values interdisciplinary collaboration and maintains an active network with researchers, artists, and institutions beyond the conservatoire.
